Controller web page not available

Hi,

 

The db + appserver services are running but the webpage is not available. I found the following error in the server.log file:

The error is logged in the file again and again each time I refresh the webpage.

But the UI is not displayed in the webpage. Only an error "The requested URL could not be retrieved".

Do you have a valid license? Is that a fresh installation? Did you copy the
license.lic file in the controller home dir?

Bonjour JB,

 

J'ai copié la licence depuis le fichier .zip généré pour 15 jours de "On-Premises Trial" dans le dossier 

C:\AppDynamics\Controller.

AppDynamic's Dashboard sharing to external website

I want to Share the AppDynamic's Dashboards in an external website under an iframe so that the reports(statistics) can be visible without logging into the AppDynamic tool on an external website.

 

Requirement :

 

  • Need to get the Dashboard's Public url (so that it can work under iframe without asking the login id/pass )

I tried doing this - "Sharing a Custom Dashboard" -> https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO39/Use+a+Custom+Dashboard

By clicking the "Copy shared url " i got the AppD's particular dashboard's Url

 

Whenever i run that url on chrome it gives the following error :

 

" Uncaught Error: Load timeout for modules: shared/SharedModuleCode h ttp://requirejs.org/docs/errors.html#timeout"

 

and when i try on IE , it throws this error :

 

"Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate. For more information, see “About Certificate Errors” in Internet Explorer Help."

On Other tools like Splunk ( http://blogs.splunk.com/2014/05/08/17682/ )and Sitecatalyst there is a concept of Sharing the reports by embedded urls. Not sure how Appdynamic works

Hi Vinay,
The error is because the https certificate provided out of the box with the
controller installation is a self signed certificate therefore some
browsers don't accept that.
So either you install a proper certificate (documented in the doc) or you
add an exception to the browser list to allow it.
Your choice but it works just fine.

Yes, our team is aware of the Config Exporter and already using it.

 

I still think that a UI with manual steps involved is not an appropriate tool to reliably and reproducibly promote configurations of dozens ot AppD applications from DEV->TEST->PROD. There are just too many steps involved which require too many manual settings.

 

The tool is certainly useful for some use cases. But IMHO a comprehensive REST API (or other API which can be automated/scripted) which covers all aspects of configuration migration is a must have for a tool like AppD.

automated email support on appdynamics?

I know there is a provision to trigger automated emails / sms when a particular health rule violation occurs on appdynamics

What i would like to know is we have a lot of server  [ around 1000+] already being monitored using appdynamics and in case of an alert [critical alert] emails are sent to specific teams that deal with that server ?  

Is it possible to create server specific email templates on appdynamics so that email to the concerned teams are automatically triggered if a server pertaining to that team violates any health rule  ?

Encountering the error in OAM weblogic product after adding Appdynamic argument in weblogic startup.

Below is the argument we are using in weblogic startup Script.

we are encountering the below error while one of our services trying to connect DUO application.If we remove AppDynamic argument it works fine our DUO service gets call flawlessly.

Ok.

Sans pouvoir me substituer au support AppDynamics (vous pouvez ouvrir un ticket même avec une license Trial, ca permet de tester notre efficacité ;) : help@appdynamics.com), vous pouvez essayer d'arrêter les processus et de relancer le controller (stop start comme documenté sur docs.appdynamics.com).

Ou alors fraiche installation.

Hi,

 

When I tried to install Appdynamics controller in RHEl6.5 VM ware workstation got the below messages and installation finished with timeout.

 

 

extracting files

Applying User Configuration to AppDynamics Controller Database State...
Applying User Configuration Complete.
Setting the admin database configuration may take a few seconds...
Failed to create the Platform Admin database schema.
Configuring Controller to finalize the setup. This may take a few minutes...
Starting AppDynamics Controller...

Server Monitoring not enabled with AppDynamics lite

Hi Team,

 

I was trying to install machine agent on windows server but could see that the agent gets connected with "NO" flag in "Server Monitoring Enabled". In order to enable Server Monitoring I went ahead and changed below property to true in controller-info xml.

After making the changes, when I restarted the server it was throwing license error in logs:

From the above logs, it seems server monitoring option is not included in lite version but the documentation says we can have 6 units of Server Monitoring (via Standalone and .NET Machine Agents). Given below is the documentation link.

I have even tried with jvm argument "-Dappdynamics.sim.enabled" which starts the agent well but server monitoring still remains disabled.

I'm testing out the free trial to evaluate the APM features. My apps are Java apps running in docker containers on AWS ECS. I have set up an jvm app agent in each container to start up with the app when they are created. Deployments replace the all containers with zero downtime deployments, and i am using a 'chaos monkey' like system to randomly kill containers to test there is no downtime.

 

I have noticed with app agent that when a new app agent start, the old one is not deleted, which leaves the node count higher than it is, and also uses up licenses. I haven't been able to work out from the documentation if this is the behaviour I should be expecting to happen, or if there is some set up I have not found to make sure the agents are deregistered when the containers are stopped/killed?

 

Any help on this would be really useful.

for the standard rules (valid for "normal" agents as well as "dockerized"
agents. I'm sure you will find it interesting.

Now, if you want to delete a node once you kill the docker container, you
can use the API (REST) to mark this node as historical

to free up the license.

Does it make sense?

Disaster recovery for Appdynamics Controller

I am exploring using the APPD HA toolkit for disaster recovery across 2 data centers

 

'we would have controller1 in DC1 and controller 2  passive in DC2

 

we have just machine and Java agents . only Out o fthe box metrics collection and ~140 agents

 

Currently running 4.5.2 controller

 

Had a   question

 

after the initial syncup , how much network capacity is needed for replication of MYSQL Servers

 

The docs talk about dedicated link between Mysql servers for high volume. Just trying to get a sense of what high volume would mean .

Enable to get busness transaction after import/export

Hello  

 

I got a problem with my application  concerning my bussnness  transaction.

I made a migration  from Saas to our premice environment  and i encountrad problem  with some application.

 

I n fact Busness transaction have disapeear and i don't know how make it appear.My application is IIs server and normally  the BT should appears automatically.

 

Please could give me any explanation of this .

Hi J.B. thank you for your response and the useful links.

 

From the notes on licensing I was interested by this statement:

 

For licensing purposes, the Controller releases the license for the agent if the Controller has not received data from the agent in the previous 5 minutes. This license availability behavior is not affected by the historical node status or node deletion timeout settings.

 

This sounds like there is a hard limit on when licenses are released. Would it therefore be the case that if I had a cluster of 3 apps in containers, and wanted to do a blue/green deployments such that I brought up 3 new instances of the app, and then took down the old 3 when the new are stable, that I would need to have 6 licences?
