The points that Karun listed is exactly why I am looking for interval greater than 60 secs.

Re: Custom monitoring extension
Here is the link to the documentation: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO41/AppDynamics+Essentials
Check under section 'Server Monitoring' -> 'Extensions and Custom Metrics' -> 'Build a Monitoring Extension Using Scripts'.
Thanks
Re: Custom monitoring extension
i agree, i was saying why is there a limiatation on periodic interval to be less than 60 seconds when the mtric granularity is minute.
Even if i set the periodic execution to say 30 secs, in the metric browser i will see data with one minute granulaity only, right?
Re: Export of Call Graph
Does the rest url like the following help?
http://<AppDynamicsController>/controller/rest/applications/prod/request-snapshots?time-range-type=BEFORE_NOW&duration-in-mins=10&need-exit-calls=true&output=json

Re: Custom monitoring extension
Yes, the data is rolled up to a "minute" granularity. But if you have multiple metrics that have been rolled up (lets say 6 if they ran every 10 seconds) you will see in the rollup the minimum, maximum, count, and average for all of those. So, you may find value reporting more often within a minute. Depends on your use case.
Re: aspnet/dotnet core
Yes it does, you need to install the relevant agents on your app servers and web servers if you want to monitor the traffic coming through web servers into your app servers. If you only want to monitor the performance of your application once the request comes in, just install the .NET agent on the app servers. Most of the discovery of the business transactions and backends(uninstrumented nodes) is out of the box, if you find that your transactions are not discovered you may want to configure them in the transaction detection section. You can also create custom exit points .
Let me know if you want to know more. You can also monitor the Resource utilisation of the resources(app servers) using the metric browser and for most of that part you can set health rules and policies to alert.
Is there a possibility to change the default email template?
Hi,
Is there a possibility to change the default email template used by App Dynamics to send email notifications? If Yes, how? I currently dont see any template in the Action Templates --> Email Templates.
Re: Enable Server Monitoring
You will need to get an additional license for server monitoring, i know it sucks but it is how it is :)
Re: Link Web User experience to business transations
if your appagent and jsagent are working fine, chances are the correlation (end user -> BT) is already happening. Instead of using the callgraph / app dashboard, suggest you start from the End User Experience side of things. Navigate to an application(Browser or Mobile) and under that a Page which you know for sure is generated by a backend transaction(that you know of). Make sure there is currently load on this page as seen from the End User Experience metrics. Double click on the Page and it'll open up an overview re: this page. Scroll down on this page and find a section titled "Related Business Transactions". If your correlation is working fine, you will see a link to the Business Transaction. If this is blank, then the correlation is not working. We will have to dig deeper. a HAR file from a browser / pageview would be a good starting point for the investigation. What version of the Controller / EUM are we talking about here?
Re: Synthetic job does not run due to time limit of 5 min
as the Synthetic product stands today, 5 minutes (300 secs) is the upper limit and cannot be increased, I think. If you are a customer of AppDynamics' then suggest you open a ticket thru the portal and we will be able to raise a Change Request to make this user-specifiable (>300 secs). One thinking is that a job that runs for > 5 mins is possibly comprised of multiple smaller tasks, which should be individual jobs on the schedule themselves. What sort of a job / script is this that you are dealing with here Shantakumari? curious....thanks
Re: Cannot find adrum app key
Lasse, sorry your post wasn't answered so far. But hopefully, you are still evaluating and we can help here. Under the Browser App -> Configuration, you should see an Advanced Section on the bottom half of the screen. Expand a sub-section (which is usually collapsed by default) named "Customize your deployment". Once you expand that, you will see the AppKey that you need to use in the Javasript agent that you are intrumenting the page(s) with...
If you are still not able to locate this option, pls take a screenshot of what you are viewing under the Browser App -> Configuration screen and we will be happy to walk you thru that...
Re: Synthetic job does not run due to time limit of 5 min
Thanks for the response Hari, that was helpful.
I will see if we can break the job into smaller jobs or else I will raise a change request.
Thank you.
AppD for ColdFusion 10+
AppD official support ColdFusion 8 & 9. CF10 released in 2012. wondering if anyone had a succcess in using AppD for CF10?
Re: Disable java agent when the controller is unavailable
Re: Export of Call Graph
Hi Karun,
with the "need-exit-calls" the call graph is not included in the response ;(
Included is the response of the suggested request and the corresponding UI of the Call Graph.
Best regards,
Boris
Re: Cannot find adrum app key
My trial expired a week or so ago I belive, so that time has passed.
Given AppDynamic's multitude of options/screens I'm still not entirely sure what page you're referring to. A screenshot would have been helpful.
I'll happily provide one of the page I *think* I'm supposed to be on?
But I see no 'Advanced Section' here...? Perhaps because my trial expired?
At the end of the day though, I think I've found AppDynamics is far beyond what I require in terms of scope/scale/size. Perhaps I'll come back to the lite version at some point in the future.
Thanks!
Re: Export of Call Graph
I wonder if you can use any of the free pdf to text converter programs.
Re: Export of Call Graph
Hi Karun,
there is no possibility to get the "convert" method of the binary data of the call graph database column?
Creating the PDF is, as far as I know only possible via the Export button inside the Controller GUI, which makes an automatic processing very complicate.

Boris
Re: Best practice to decide the Tier Name , Node name and Probe name
Hi Gurmit,
Below is the scenario:
- We have 10 .Net application servers , all of them have around 4-5 IIS pools(applications), all the applications are common in all the 10 .Net servers. So the users hit the load balanced VIP and the request comes to any of the app server based on the load balancing and for a particular request the IIS application is invoked on any of the server.
- The problem comes when we find a slow transaction and when we look into the call graph and find that there were several WCF or https exit calls being made, and it also shows the TO and FROM thing for that call. But since we named the Tiers automatically , APPD created tiers based on the name of the Site\IIS applications. So the FROM thing is always shown as Tier name and we are never able to know which server was involved in the slowness.
- Hence I renamed the tier based on the server name, so now each server is a tier (ex Server1), and under that there are several nodes (1 node for each worker process of that IIS app pool). But as soon as I renamed , I am seeing at each tier the BT limit is crossed and the BT list shows “Server1- All other traffic”.
What is the best way to name the tiers in .NET application now?
Re: AppD for ColdFusion 10+
As long as the underlying JVM is supported, I would assume no issues with CF10. I have seen customers using it successfuly on CF9.
But yes, the official AppDynamics support matrix does not include CF10 yet.
Good luck
Karun
